Piper Cattle Dog Shepherd Adoption

ADOPTION PROCESS

Please follow the guidelines below to help us find your dog in an efficient and effective manner. We are a small, volunteer-run organization and do not have the resources to respond to all inquiries. We are happy to answer any questions about a dog listed on our site after reviewing your adoption application. Meet and greets will only be scheduled with approved adopters.

STEP 1. SELECT A DOG

Start your search, if you haven't already! View CCHDR's available dogs and identify one (or more) you might be interested in.

STEP 2. APPLY

Fill out and submit an online Adoption Application. If you rent your home, please also fill out a Landlord Permission Form. Both must be received for an application to be considered complete. Don't forget to include the name of the dog(s) you are interested in, or if you just want an application on file for when "the one" rolls around that's perfectly okay too.

Prefer filling out our application by hand?

Email completed application to info@cchdrescue.org

STEP 3. MEET & GREET

Once an adoption application has been approved, we will schedule a meet and greet. Bring a leash and collar to the adoption appointment because if it's a match, you will be taking your new dog home with you!

STEP 4. SIGN & PAY

Before you set sail with your new family member, we'll need you to sign the Adoption Contract, Spay/Neuter Agreement (if applicable), and pay the adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal, Cash or Check.

ADOPTION FEE:

This fee helps cover rescue expenses including but not limited to spay/neuter, current vaccinations, medical care, microchipping, feeding, and maintaining all of the dog's needs.

$350 - PUPPIES

less than 1 year of age

$350 - YOUNG ADULTS

1 - 7 years of age

$200 - SENIORS

8+ years of age

! Dog's that are unaltered at the time of adoption require an additional $300 (female) / $200 (male) spay-neuter deposit. Deposit is refundable with proof of sterilization.

Piper the Cattle Dog Adopted

PHILOSOPHY.

BEST FIT APPROACH

CCHDR is not a first-come, first-served rescue organization. Rather we believe in taking a best fit approach when it comes to finding great dogs great forever homes. That said, we do aim to place as soon as possible because every dog in rescue is taking the place of another dog in need. We know our dogs and to ensure a successful match we want to get to know you. Please be as detailed as possible in your application.

NO REMORSE GUARANTEE

CCHDR wants the best for our dogs and adopters, therefore, all adoptions have a 2 WEEK TRIAL PERIOD. Adoption fees are refundable if a dog is returned within the trial period. We want to make sure that you and the dog are a good fit. No adopter's remorse allowed.

POLICIES.

NO HOLDS

CCHDR does not hold dogs. We cannot consider an application until you are actually ready to accommodate the dog you wish to adopt.

LANDLORD APPROVAL

If you currently rent your home, a Landlord Permission Form must be submitted along with your application.

SPAY / NEUTER

All dogs and yes! cats currently in the home must have proof of spay/neuter prior to a CCHDR dog being placed. If a CCHDR dog has not been altered prior to adoption, a Spay/Neuter Agreement Form must be signed.

MEET & GREET

All family members including other dogs must be present for the adoption appointment. Meet and greets will take place wherever the dog is located, often within San Luis Obispo County unless specified otherwise. We cannot transport dogs for adoption appointments.
